Update by Hedy Campbell Hello, Hort. Society members, Here it is the last day of March, and it feels like Spring at last - very encouraging! If you were not at our recent meeting on Mar. 26th, here's what you missed of my talk: - a brief description of plans for special events, and - fundraising ideas to help promote the Society; and - a Spring Urn - a large, metal, outdoor urn that I used to arrange some Forsythia branches, Pussywillow twigs, and some of those lovely thick Birch sections (kindly loaned from Marvin's) that make a strong statement; and - potted fresh Chives and some Lavender sprigs, and homemade jams, to illustrate the themes of some of the planned workshops. Also, I brought trays of homemade Cheese & Chive mini-scones, and Lavender cookies to sample. For some events, the Hort. Society will have a table of items made by Hort. members, for sale to the public. A list of various items we would like to have members make and donate was on hand. The Garden Show at the Crystal Palace in June is one event that we hope to have items made by members, such as jams/jellies/preserves, baked goods, or even bring fresh berries, rhubarb, or cut flowers, for sale. I would make labels and organize the sale, and we know there will be a good crowd attending. Thank you for any help you can offer. For more information, contact me: Hedy Campbell, 476-6577
